Steve Norris FRICS FCIHT FCILT has been in the property business for more than forty years. Having graduated with an MA (Hons) in Jurisprudence from Oxford University he worked in private industry before being elected to Berkshire County Council where he was Deputy Leader from 1983-85. He was elected as a Conservative MP in 1983 where he served as a Parliamentary Private Secretary in the Departments of Environment, Trade and Industry and the Home Office before being appointed Minister of Transport in 1992 where he served until he retired from Parliament in 1997. He was his party’s candidate for Mayor of London in 2000 and 2004 and is a former Vice Chairman of the Party. He is Chairman of Soho Estates Ltd, Driver Group plc and Senior Adviser at BNP Paribas Real Estate UK. He is also Chair of the Council of the National Infrastructure Planning Association and of Cambridgeshire County Council’s arms-length property development company, This Land. He advises a number of companies on strategic property planning and investment issues and was recently voted to the UK Property Power 100. Steve is an Eminent Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and was recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Law by the University of East London.
Salmaan Hasan has over 25 years’ experience in banking, finance and real estate, both in the UK and abroad.
Prior to joining Trust Real Estate he had roles as advisor to the St John’s Wood Barracks site, where permission has been granted for a £1 billion plus super-prime residential scheme, and as advisor for the acquisition of prestigious development stock in London for a major Singaporean listed property company.
Before this, he was Chief Executive of FTSE 250 listed property company Minerva plc from 2005 until 2011, when the company was taken private. Whilst at Minerva, the Company structured, financed and delivered 1,000,000 sq. ft. of Grade A office space in The City of London, super prime residential totalling circa 200,000 sq. ft. in the West End of London and assembled large land projects, for example the Ram Brewery scheme in Wandsworth, London.
During his banking career Salmaan established and directed the London real estate financing activities of BHF Bank/Deutsche Postbank from 1994 until 2005. Over this period, he and his team arranged, syndicated and structured in excess of £5bn of real estate financing for land, assembly, planning, and construction, including luxury hotels across Europe and prime residential development in London.
He is the sole NED of Joseph Homes, a privately owned London-based niche housebuilder and PRS operator.
Tim Garnham has had over 30 years’ experience in the property industry and is responsible for the company’s development programme. In 2015 he stepped down as joint Chief Executive of Minerva Limited which specialised in London offices, mixed use and high end London residential. He was responsible for developing in excess of 1.5 million sq ft of offices, luxury residential and mixed use schemes. Notable projects included The Walbrook Building, The St Botolph Building, 90 High Holborn and The Lancasters.
Prior to joining the company as Group Development Director in 1998 he was Deputy Managing Director of Trafalgar House Property responsible for the UK development programme including a number of major London sites including what is now 30 St Mary Axe (The Gherkin), Paddington Basin and Chiswick Park.
He is a Non-Executive Director of London and Continental Railways where he is also Chairman of The Remuneration Committee. He is a Trustee in the Garrard Family Foundation, Governor of Queenswood School and Chair of The Facilities Committee. He is a Liveryman of The Worshipful Company of Farriers.
Craig Calder has spent almost all his working life in the property industry. He moved from his native South Africa to the UK in 1994 working first in the Kuwait Investment Office and then in the financial services sector for several years in management roles with Citigroup. During that time he was part of a team which successfully obtained full planning consent for a 7000 acre lifestyle estate incorporating 600 homes, a hotel, 18-hole golf course and an equestrian centre. As Development Director for Obsidian Strategic Development and Regeneration he successfully delivered a major high end residential scheme in Wimbledon and worked on a portfolio of projects including a £300m scheme to transform Forest Gate in Newham. He has advised on a number of significant regeneration projects in London where his particular strength is in unlocking significant opportunities for investors through extensive negotiation with local stakeholders and statutory bodies and in assembling first class teams to deliver projects from the outline planning phase through to construction and sale. He has an excellent understanding of the London and Home Counties property market and is in great demand from developers and investors alike.
A graduate of London School of Economics, Ivan Ezekiel BSc FCA CTA CF has over 25 years’ experience in corporate and real estate finance, financial reporting, accounting, tax and regulatory matters.
Prior to joining Trust Real Estate in 2015, he was joint Chief Executive of Minerva from 2012, having joined the main Board in 2005 as Finance Director, with responsibility for corporate and real estate finance, financial planning, treasury, accounting, tax, the supervision of reporting and corporate governance matters. During his time at Minerva plc, the FTSE real estate investment and development group, he secured acquisition finance for its investment portfolio and site loans and construction finance for its significant London real estate commercial and residential program. Most significantly, he achieved a series of loan restructurings allowing the group the flexibility to deliver its £1.5 billion development program of prime real estate in London.
Ivan qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG and worked for Capital and Regional Properties plc for three years as Financial Controller before joining Minerva in 1997 as Chief Financial Officer.
HON WILLIAM CADOGAN
William Cadogan is a founder of Trust Real Estate, a former investment banker with eight years at Cazenove and a Chartered Surveyor with ten years of experience in the industry.
He is a member of the Cadogan family, owners of The Cadogan Estate in Knightsbridge and Chelsea which has been in family ownership for some 300 years. He has excellent industry relationships and unique links with the London and UK wide family estates.
He is the UK based director of Cadogan Estates (Australia) and a private investor with interests in the UK and overseas. William sits on the Fundraising Committee of The London Playing Fields Foundation and is a Trustee of The Cadogan Charity and the Village Housing Charitable Trust.
